Call for Volunteers: SCI Catalunya is looking for volunteers under 18 for workcamps in April

Are you interested in nature conservation, bioconstruction and want to help small communities to preserve their cultural heritage? Would you like to have new experiences? Are you under 18 years old?

SCI Catalunya is looking for volunteers under the age of 18 for two workcamps referring to the topics of nature conservation, bioconstruction and supporting local communities with their efforts to preserve the local and pristine places and promote cultural heritage protection.

About SCI Catalunya

SCI Catalunya is the Catalan branch of SCI, one of the 2 SCI branches in Spain. They are based in Barcelona and their working area covers the Catalan countries (including Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands and Andorra).

SCI was founded in 1982 and he organization works on both a global and local level. On the global level, they organize international workcamps in the above mentioned territory Long Term Voluntary Projects (including EVS), trainings and seminars. On the local level, they work to promote peaceful social transformation of society in order to encourage sustainable human development and a culture of peace, through volunteer groups, involving their community and local networks.

The first workcamp

The first workcamp will take place in a small village in the Natural Park of Tinença de Benifassà from 1 April to 10 April 2023 and will focus on heritage conservation and archaeology . The volunteers will work on the reconstruction of a replica house from the Iberian period, using experimental archaeology techniques.

The workcamp will be in English, volunteers do not need any special skills to participate in the camp.

The second workcamp

The second workcamp will take place from 1 April to 9 April 2023 and will be focused on the reconstruction work of outdoor spaces.

SCI Catalunya supports and collaborates with the Fundació Roser de Maig, a social, educational and leisure ENL founded to help those who need it through socio-cultural work. Apart from reconstruction work, many different activities connected to global justice and peace culture are going to take place. Volunteers will go around the city and area so that they can get to know the workcamp surroundings.

The workcamp will be in English, volunteers require an additional motivation letter to explain in more detail why they would like to attend.
