SUMMARY:ECOLab: Your Footprint is Youth Footprint
DESCRIPTION:Youth Exchange on Ecological Education\n| 22-29 October 2023 | Dyarbakir\, Turkey\nWhat is this project about?\nThis international exchange aims to bring 40 participants from 8 countries together to discuss/share experiences about local and global ecological issues of today\, information/knowledge about ways to protect the environment\, raise awareness among young people about the importance of sustainable living\, create an informative campaign\nthat each participant country can develop and implement in their community and try to find solutions together for this problem. We believe that environmental education has to come at an early age for everyone\, and should be a fundamental pillar of a complete education nowadays. What we do\, what we buy\, what means of transport we use\, how much trash we produce\, how we handle it\, how much water we use etc. Understanding our impact on the\nenvironment and how we can reduce it is of fundamental importance for young people\, not only because individual actions can radically affect ecological issues but also because radical collective actions require knowledge and tools from a younger age. First step for change is reflecting on individual behaviour and collective consequences\, the second one is changing individual behaviour\, spreading the word and organising collective efforts. These two\nfundamental aspects in ecological education and environmental protection will be the main topic of our youth exchange. \nAnother aspect we are going to explore regards environmental practices in daily work with young people and in our activities. We want to address a common problem for our daily work which concerns the application of environmental-friendly practices in Erasmus+ projects. In this sense\, we will discuss and exchange strategies and good practices with participants in order to make a contribution for the improvement of Erasmus+ projects.\nBeside the topic a youth exchange is an occasion to meet international young people\, to engage into intercultural dialogue and cooperation\, to learn about other cultures and to develop long-lasting friendships. Last but not least\, it is a lot of fun! \nMethods\nDuring the youth exchange we are going to use a broad variety of non-formal education methods\, simulation games\, various team building activities and especially digital games such as kahoot\, flipped classroom\, Word Cloud Generator\, etc. We will focus on group work and discussions and will have various outdoor activities\, quizzes\, debates and field visits. We will as well try to collect ideas and materials so as to develop good practices and strategies. \nLogistics and financial conditions\nAccommodation & Food: All participants will stay in the guest house of Youth and Change Association in the city centre of Diyarbakir. It has 2 floors with 7 rooms and the building is made of steel within a few minutes walking distance to the Old Town. The food will be provided by our team in the guest house and during the whole week\,\nparticipants will try different traditional dishes. \nMoney\, money\, money: We can cover all essential costs of the program (including food\, travel costs up to a maximum amount per country\, visa costs\, accommodation and content) through a European project grant by Erasmus+. \nTravel expenses will be reimbursed according to the distance calculator rules and the maximum for each participant that can be reimbursed is: \n\n275€ for Greece\, Romania\, Macedonia\, Ukraine\, Armenia\, Georgia;\n360€ for Austria;\n20€ for Turkey.\n\nSustainable travels?: We ask you to come to this project through more sustainable means of transport rather than flying (e.g. train/bus)\, if somehow possible. We will give you more financial support in case you decide to reach the venue through sustainable travel. \nWho can participate?\nPeople living in Austria\, Greece\, Romania\, Macedonia\, Ukraine\, Armenia\, Georgia and Turkey. We unfortunately cannot make exceptions due to our funding rules. \nPeople with fewer opportunities prioritised. We will prioritise applications by people with disabilities and chronic health conditions\, migrants\, LGBTQIA+ people and working-class youth. We will do our best to make the project a safer space and take the individual needs of the participants into account. \nEveryone who comes should be motivated and interested in the topic\, committed to participate in group discussions and to bring ideas for project\, able to communicate in English and committed to carry out follow-up activities (sharing project results with sending organisations andother fellows and participate in online activities after the exchange). \nNo previous experience with the topic needed. You are welcome in this exchange even if you have no experience in the topic at hand. \nVaccinated or recovered ideally. At the moment\, there are no entrance rules around COVID-19 anymore. DESCRIPTION:Youth Exchange | 10-17 August 2022 | Vienna\, Austria\nWhat is this project about?\nNo war anywhere! The current war in Ukraine has changed Europe and the world massively in the past months. More than 6.6 million people have fled war and the Russian invasion of Ukraine since 24 February\, 8 million more are displaced within the country. Our governments respond to this in many different ways: Accepting refugees and trying to further diplomacy\, introducing sanctions against Russia\, raising military budgets and joining NATO (ordiscussing it). \nHow can we respond to this as young people? What can we do to bring about longlasting peace in Europe? How can we stand up against war and militarism? How can we support refugees and show our solidarity with Ukrainians? How do we feel about military conscription? \nAn antimilitarist youth exchange in Vienna. We invite young people living in Austria\, Cyprus\, Finland\, Greece\, Kosovo and Switzerland to come together from 10-17 August 2022 to discuss with and learn from each other about war and militarism. We will also explore the city a bit together and enjoy the sun. \nWe will discuss military conscription. In all of our countries\, it is obligatory for young men (or what the government perceives to be “men”) to do military service or an alternative service or our governments are discussing about introducing it. The context in our countries is very different. What does it mean for our societies that half of the young population is obligated to join the military? What experiences have we personally made around this? \nWe will spread the word. In this youth exchange\, we will also create online materials to spread in social media educating about and discussing war\, militarism and military conscription. We want to invite people around us to discuss these things too. We will also organise a webinar about the topic during the exchange. \nLogistics and financial conditions\nSimple life: The project will take place in a scouts center with simple living conditions. We will sleep in shared bedrooms. Vienna is close\, but also not. The venue is in the outskirts of Vienna. The next subway station from our venue is 25 minutes by bus\, so it is not a central location. We will have a free afternoon with the option of a city tour in the program and might make small trips to the city. Please be aware that if you want to properly explore the city\, you will need to stay a few days before or after the project. \nMoney\, money\, money: We can cover all essential costs of the program (including food\, travel costs up to a maximum amount per country\, visa costs\, accommodation and content) through a European project grant by Erasmus+. \nSustainable food: The food we provide will be vegan with vegetarian options. DESCRIPTION:Youth Exchange | 2-10 August 2022 | Vienna\, Austria\n \nWhat is this project about?\n \n\nThere is a representation problem on Wikipedia. Some groups are better represented than others\,. Only 17% of all biographies on English Wikipedia are about women\, a lot of content about the Global South is missing. Also queer people – Lesbians\, Gays\, Bisexuals\, Trans* and Inter* people – are underrepresented.\n\n \nA queer summer camp around learning how to edit Wikipedia.\n \n\nWe want to gather young people living in Armenia\, Austria\, France\, Spain\, Sweden and Tunisia for a summer camp in Vienna around Wikipedia. We want to edit\, translate and add content on Wikipedia around queer people\, queer concepts and queer history. And at the same time\, we want to cook together\, discuss LGBTI+ issues\, go hiking and build queer solidarity across countries and continents.\n\n \nLet‘s make Wikipedia more queer!\n \n\nThrough the articles that we write we hope to increase the visibility of LGBTI+ issues on Wikipedia in different languages and also build knowledge fundaments for international understanding and solidarity between queer people. We also want to include diverse identities within the LGBTIQA+ community. We will do our best to make the project a safer space and take the individual needs of the participants into account. Unfortunately\, the accommodation is not accessible by wheelchair.\n\n \n\nNo previous experience with Wikipedia needed. The project will teach you all the basics\, if you are a newcomer. SUMMARY:Call for group leaders: Living Library Week
DESCRIPTION:SCI Italy is looking for 1 group leader for the youth exchange : The Living Library Week\, which will take place from 4th to 13 th of May at La Città dell Utopia\, a social laboratory in Rome. \nA group of young people from Italy\, Catalonia\, Greece\, Hungary\, and Austria will have the opportunity to explore together the themes of emotional intelligence and interpersonal relations\, through the Living Library tool. Together we will become living books ready to tell our stories and to be read by other young people. \nThe Living Library methodology aims to build a positive framework for communication between people\, challenging stereotypes\, and prejudices through dialogue. The theme of each book is the life of a person\, and the narrator is the\nsame individual who\, through their voice and testimony\, shares not only words and expressions but also their own values and beliefs\, norms\, and myths of the communities in which they were raised. This methodology allows not only to bring people together but also to develop their emotional abilities with an important impact in terms of personal development and active citizenship. \nAn online preparatory meeting (APV) for the project is going to take place on the following days: 21 st \, 23 rd and 25 th of March. \nWhat does a Group Leader do?\nBEFORE the Youth Exchange: \n\nParticipate in 2 online meetings with the organizational team\nSupport the people who coordinate the project in the preparation of the online preparatory meeting (APV)\nHelp with the logistics of your group (organize trips\, prepare meetings with the group\, collect specific needs)\nHelp in the selection and preparation of participants and activities\n\nDURING the Youth Exchange: \n\nResponsible for your group (well-being\, motivation\, and team spirit)\nSupport the implementation of activities\nDaily evaluation within the group\nBeing responsible for the Exchange program and program\n\nAFTER the Exchange: \n\nSupport the reporting\nHelping with the administration (collect tickets\, photos\, reports\, assessments\, etc.)\n\nWho are we looking for?\nThe ideal group leader: \n\nhas experience in working with young people\, coordinating groups and non-formal education methods\nis interested\, motivated and willing to follow the project from beginning to end\nhas a good knowledge of English and Italian and is able to translate for his group if necessary\nhas a positive and proactive attitude\nis very patient\, tolerant\, and open-minded\nhas good organizational skills\nis able to cooperate with the organizational team\nfeels responsible for the group\, especially for the participants\, who come from difficult contexts\n\nLogistics\, financial conditions\, and sustainability \nSimple life: The training will take place in La Città dell’Utopia in Rome\, which is a community house with simple living conditions.
