Project description
SCI Germany is part of an international network committed to promoting peace, social justice, environmental sustainability and dialogue between cultures. Every year, it coordinates around 25 international work camps in Germany, as well as long-term projects and training courses on topics such as anti-racism, climate justice, gender equality and non-violent conflict management.
The volunteer will join the SCI office team in Bonn, playing a central role in placement, communication and promotion activities. The project offers an insight into the inner workings of an international volunteer organisation and the opportunity to actively contribute to exchange activities.
The responsibilities include:
• Placement
Managing applications for work camps, both for participants from abroad travelling to Germany and for volunteers from Germany travelling to other countries. The work is carried out using the OPS digital system, for which specific training will be provided.
• Communication
Intensive communication via email and telephone, mainly in English and partly in German. You will be in contact with volunteers, international partners and project coordinators, providing information and support on activities. You will also help to create information materials.
• Promotion and social media
Support in publishing projects on social media, creating content and running campaigns to reach new volunteers.
• Work camp support
Opportunity to participate in a work camp in Germany and visit others to monitor activities and present SCI to volunteers. Personal projects, including online formats, are encouraged.
• Additional activities
Participation in training and thematic seminars, such as leadership, camp coordination, anti-racism, ecology or gender studies. Possible participation in SCI international conferences dedicated to cooperation and network development.
At the beginning of the project, the volunteer will participate in the international Placement Officer Training (POT) to be held in Bern (Switzerland) from 3 to 9 March 2026.
